I'm Sarah Wesche — a wedding photographer based in Auburn, Alabama, with over ten years of showing up for days exactly like yours. My work is light-filled and film-inspired, but what I'm really after is something harder to name: the feeling of a day lived fully, captured so completely that you can step back into it.
The moments I think about longest after a wedding aren't usually the ones everyone expects. It's the groom's face three seconds before she rounds the corner. It's the way two people hold hands differently at the end of the night than at the beginning.
I photograph love at every stage — and for wedding couples in Auburn and across Alabama, that means showing up to your day with the same care I'd bring to a once-in-a-lifetime portrait session. Because that's exactly what it is.
Auburn is the kind of place that surprises you. The light here is golden and generous. The venues range from grand estate gardens to rustic barns to stately university buildings that have witnessed generations of love stories. And the couples getting married here — they care about their photos. They want something that lasts.
Having recently made Auburn home, I'm building something intentional in this market: a wedding photography practice rooted in this community, in its vendors, its venues, and the couples who choose it for the most important day of their lives.
Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony at Lake Martin, a grand affair at Fountainview Mansion, or something in between — I'd love to be the photographer who documents it.
I'm drawn to the quiet moments as much as the big ones. The way morning light falls across a veil. The look between a father and daughter before they walk down the aisle. The exhale after the ceremony — when it's finally, actually real.
My approach is documentary at heart, with an editorial eye. I'm not going to over-direct your wedding day — I'll guide you when you need it, move through it, watch for the moments that matter and capture them before they disappear. What you'll receive is a gallery that feels like a film about your day. Romantic, honest, and yours.
I work with natural light whenever possible, and I gravitate toward venues and settings that have visual character — old stone, lush gardens, soft interiors, open sky. If that sounds like your aesthetic, we're probably going to work well together.
My Approach
How far in advance should I book an Auburn wedding photographer?
For Auburn and the surrounding Lee County area, most couples book 12–18 months ahead — particularly for peak season dates in April through June and September through November. Auburn's wedding market is growing, and weekends fill faster than you'd expect. If you have a venue and a date, it's not too early to reach out.
What venues in and around Auburn do you photograph weddings at?
I love working throughout the Auburn and Opelika area — from estate properties like Pursell Farms to intimate garden venues, private properties, and everything in between. If you're considering a venue and want to know whether I've worked there or what the light is like, just ask. I'm happy to talk through it.
What's the difference between booking a local Auburn photographer versus someone from Atlanta or Birmingham?
Proximity matters more than most couples realize. A local photographer knows the light at your venue at 5pm in October. They know which back entrance to use, which corner of the garden photographs beautifully, and they're not rushing to beat traffic home. Being rooted in this community is something I take seriously.
Do you photograph engagements sessions in Auburn?
Yes — and Auburn is genuinely one of my favorite places to shoot them. Between the campus, Jule Collins Smith Museum, downtown Auburn, and the surrounding countryside, there's a location for every couple's aesthetic. I'm happy to suggest spots based on your style and the time of year.
Do you photograph weddings at Auburn University or on campus?
Yes — the Auburn University campus and surrounding areas make for genuinely beautiful backdrops, both for weddings and for engagement sessions. The Donald E. Davis Arboretum in particular is one of my favorite spots in the area for portraits.
Are you available for Auburn weddings this year?
I have limited availability remaining for 2026 and am booking select 2027 dates now. The best way to check your date is to reach out directly — I'll get back to you within 48 hours.
