I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “It’s the little things” or “It’s all in the details.” When it comes to wedding photography, those things are ring true which is why I believe your bridal details matter. They set the tone of what your wedding day will look like and each element tells a part of your story. And since you’ve thoughtfully chosen each piece and the colors to be a part of your style, wardrobe, and aesthetic, I believe it is so important to highlight those special heirlooms that may otherwise go unnoticed during the day and give them a little extra love and attention.

I love beginning a wedding day with the details so I can get a sense of your style and the aesthetic you’ve chosen. This time helps get my creative juices flowing and allow me to capture your day and tell your love story in a cohesive way. So here is a simple list of the bridal details you don’t want to forget!

  1. Wedding Dress and a wooden hanger
  2. All three rings
  3. Invitation suite
  4. Shoes
  5. Veil/Hairpieces
  6. Jewelry
  7. Heirloom pieces (Grandma’s handkerchief, etc)
  8. Perfume
  9. Borrowed and blue

Pro Tip #1: Have all of your details collected in a bag or box and that way your photographer can grab it and get to work.

Pro Tip #2: Have your florist throw some cuttings of your blooms and greenery in that bag too! Being able to incorporate your florals makes these photos more cohesive with the rest of your day and elevates your detail shots even more!

Pro Tip #3: If possible, have your rings cleaned before your wedding day or make sure to have jewelry wipes on hand so we can make sure your rings are sparkling!

Pro Tip #4: Have one of your bridesmaids steam your dress and make sure to bring a wooden hanger. The hangers your dress comes with tend to be flimsy and don’t really photograph as nicely as a wooden or white hanger.

The groom deserves a little detail love too so here are the groom’s details I love to photograph at the start of the day.

  1. Shoes
  2. Cufflinks
  3. Tie
  4. Watch
  5. Cologne

I hope this simple checklist helps you organize your thoughtful and special details for your beautiful day!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Sarah

At home in the garden. Ever-focused on finding beauty in simplicity and the art of creating.

I'm Sarah and I'm beyond blessed to photograph amazing people on some of the most important days of their lives. After photographing my first wedding nearly a decade ago, I was immediately drawn into the magic of creating a visual narrative that artfully expressed a couple's love story. Motherhood deepened my passion and inspired me to create images that were even more timeless and meaningful- photos that truly captured those moments and emotions in a real and organic way.

My goal is to photograph your wedding as if it were my own- blending beautiful portraiture with candid emotional imagery. I believe in an approach that is people-centered, simple, and rooted in kindness: I will guide you when needed and also step back to let those beautiful candid moments unfold naturally, ensuring your memories are not only preserved but also felt.

When my camera is not in hand, you can find me at home with my four children, dreaming up my next home improvement project in our 120 year old home, or planning out the next addition to our garden.
