There are proposal sessions that are sweet. There are ones that are beautifully planned. And then there are the rare ones that are all of it at once — the laughter, the tears, the complete and total joy of two people choosing each other. Harry and Ellie’s afternoon at Montaluce Winery was exactly that, and as their Montaluce Winery proposal photographer, I had the absolute privilege of witnessing every single second of it.
A Place That Already Held Their Story
Montaluce wasn’t just a pretty backdrop — it was their place. So when Harry suggested they spend the afternoon there together, Ellie thought nothing of it. As far as she knew, it was simply a continuation of his birthday celebration, a date to a spot they both loved. She had no idea that Harry had been quietly orchestrating something far more meaningful behind the scenes.
While Ellie was on her way, Harry’s friends got to work. Tucked among the sun-drenched vines, they hung photo after photo — a timeline of Harry and Ellie’s relationship, from their early days to the life they’d built together. Then Harry found his hiding spot, and so did I.
The Moment She Saw the Photos
The afternoon light was brilliant — warm and golden the way only a sunny Georgia day can be — as Harry and Ellie made their way through the property. And then she saw them. The photos. Her smile came first, wide and immediate, followed by laughter as she recognized the memories hanging gently among the vines. She took her time with them, soaking in each one, completely unaware of what was about to come next.
That laugh, that unguarded joy — it’s the kind of moment I live for behind the lens.
“I KNEW IT!”
When Ellie turned around, Harry was already down on one knee. The laughter softened into something deeper — happy tears and a joyful, breathless yes. He slipped the ring on her finger, and Ellie, in the most perfectly her way possible, looked at him and exclaimed: “I KNEW IT!”
I gave them a few minutes that belonged entirely to them. No camera, no direction — just two people completely overwhelmed with happiness, standing in a vineyard in the North Georgia sun.
A “Just Engaged” Session Among the Vines
Once they were ready, we wandered the property together for a relaxed celebration session. Harry, who’s originally from Oxford, England, and Ellie, who made the move from Washington on the West Coast to the Atlanta area, have built something really special together — and it showed in every single frame. Ellie’s smile never left her face. Not once. It was the most joyful, effortless session, full of genuine happiness that I didn’t have to coax or create. It was simply there, pouring out of both of them.
