As an Auburn, AL wedding photographer, I have the privilege of documenting all kinds of love stories but every so often, a wedding day comes along that reminds me exactly why I do this work. Haleigh and Nate’s wedding, held on family land just outside Auburn, Alabama, was one of those days. It was heartfelt, relaxed, and entirely centered on faith and family, and I’m so excited to finally share it with you.
Meet Haleigh & Nate
Haleigh and Nate are, without exaggeration, some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Easygoing, joyful, and genuinely a pleasure to be around, their warmth was evident from the very first time we met in person. They found each other through a mutual friend at a Bible study, and that same faith and community continued to shape their relationship right up through their wedding day.
If there was one theme that defined this wedding, it was community. Haleigh’s late grandfather helped build the wooden cross that stood at the reception. Her aunt handled every floral arrangement by hand. Friends drove golf carts to shuttle guests across the property, and another group of friends built the very platform Haleigh and Nate stood on to say their vows. Their beautiful day was made, quite literally, by the people who love them most.
A Relaxed, Faith-Centered Day
The ceremony took place on the morning of September 5th, right at the edge of summer. The sky was cloudy and overcast, with a light sprinkle of rain which stopped the exact moment Haleigh began walking down the aisle. If anything, the cooler, overcast morning made the day even more comfortable. But Haleigh and Nate weren’t fixated on the weather at all. Their mindset going into the day was simple: “We just want to be married, and today will go how the Lord wants it to go. It’s in His hands.” That kind of surrender showed up in every smile and every joy-filled moment.
True to that same spirit, the day stayed wonderfully casual — a Saturday morning wedding with no pressure and no formality for formality’s sake. Haleigh’s brother officiated the ceremony, she wore no makeup besides a swipe of lipstick, and her chosen color palette of white, green, and mulberry reflected her personality beautifully: soft, natural, and full of warmth.
Why They Chose the Magnolia Tree
Haleigh and Nate exchanged vows underneath a magnolia tree on their family property which was the very spot where Nate proposed. It also carried on a family tradition: Haleigh’s sister was married under a different, special oak tree on the same land. So choosing that magnolia tree had double the sentiment and continued something meaningful in their family story.
The Moment I’ll Never Forget
Of all the moments from that morning, Nate’s face as Haleigh walked down the aisle is the one that will stay with me. The couple chose not to do a first look, so that walk down the aisle carried the full weight of anticipation. They also saved their first kiss for the ceremony itself, which made that moment every bit as special as you’d imagine.
Working Together
Haleigh and Nate were referred to me by another photographer, a mutual friend of theirs. Once we met in person, we both just knew it was the right fit — the kind of instant connection I’ve come to love as an Auburn wedding photographer working within this community.
Since they didn’t have a wedding planner, I stepped in to help build out their timeline and met with them ahead of time to walk through exactly how their morning would unfold. When they were deciding how to make their exit memorable, I suggested a ribbon-waving send-off — a small detail that ended up being one of the most joyful moments of the whole day.
